Tired opponents

Never underestimate how tired  poker  players  can get over the course of a game, and a tired mind and body leads to tired play. You can usually tell when players are suffering from the effects of exhaustion, and you can and should factor that into your reading of them.

The more tired a poker player is, the less likely (or capable) he or she will be of bluffing. So when a tired player bets, they probably have something to bet with. Of course, good players can try to feign exhaustion to fool their opponents; so that’s something you should keep an eye out for as well.

When it comes to   online poker,  you won’t have physical tells to guide you. However, the longer a particular game goes on, the more effects of exhaustion will be displayed by the players – so keep an eye out and you could win big.

The short-stack shove

When you’re up against a player who’s got a much smaller stack than you do – probably one of, if not the, shortest stack at the table – and they shove, what should you do?

When a poker player’s stack dwindles to this point, it often so happens that they have to combat feelings of resignation and negativity as well as the other players. After a point, they might reach a stage of mental helplessness and a desire to just get the game over with.

In such cases, they will be much more inclined towards hero calls and dramatic all-ins when they really don’t have the odds in their favor. So, in these circumstances, you should ensure thatyoudo and call them, and you’ll put them out of their misery.

Beware parting shots

This particular tip is applicable in a couple of situations:

• if an opponent is about to leave, but then decides to just ‘finish the hand’
• if an opponent usually plays until a specific time, but this time is willing to stay longer

In either case, this eagerness to see that hand through is usually a bad sign for you. In such circumstances, most players would think nothing of folding a weak or borderline hand; so, the fact that they’re staying should tell you that they’ve got something big and you should avoid being sunk by their parting shot.
